Dogs need their daily walks for their toilet breaks as well as to stay happy and healthy. This is the perfect way to get lazy humans off the couch and out in the streets, walking your dog! Not only do you get to tire your dog out, you will also benefit from the regular exercise. Just a short 30-minute walk daily can greatly improve your health.

Pet ownership extends to your mental health too. Studies have shown that pet owners are less prone to depression. They keep you active, and also give you a more positive outlook in life - a great way to combat depression.

Living in a household with pets can help children develop an increased immunity to pet allergies. As such, kids growing up with pets tend to have fewer allergies. PS: You should not own a pet if you are allergic to them, because you won’t suddenly become immune. Alternatively, do some research and seek out a hypoallergenic breed.

High levels of anxiety and stress in our lives can lead to health problems. Fortunately, pets can help us relax. Watching fishes swimming in a tank or stroking your dogs or cats can reduce stress levels. A few studies have shown that pet owners tend to have lower blood pressure, triglyceride level, and cholesterol than people without pets.
